We are in the process of adding Hairdressing Trade to our belt. The electrician apprenticeships conducted at Zurel, we feel are a cut above the rest as we include extra learning interventions that will assist them in the world of work and make them much more employable.
Beginning Phase
The learner apprentice starts off his training with a week’s induction and then moves over to the basic hand tools workshop. This is where we ensure they know how to use most basic hand tools correctly and to master the techniques of arc welding, gas welding and the use of most portable electrical tools (grinders drills etc.) that they will encounter in the trade. Skills like sanding and painting are also taught to them as this skill is also required from an electrician at times yet it is not in the national curriculum. First aid and Occupational Health and safety are also a part of their programme to ensure a safe working environment and conditions

Learners that wish to study further are encouraged to do so and some of them go as far as acquiring their N6 by us.
Installation Rules
Our apprentices also undergo 3 months of training by one of only 200 master electricians in South Africa in the subject Installation Rules. The learning material used for this subject is costly yet it is given to the apprentices for future reference as this is their “bible” for electrical codes and practices according to the Department of Labour. Installation rules are required to acquire a Wireman’s License after they have qualified. The installations rules examinations are also done in our registered examination centre.
